Dr. James Choo, Medical Director of the PCET Surgery and Research Center, served on a community health forum panel on May 25, 2016. The forum brought together more than 200 area physicians, business owners, and non-profit organizations to talk about ways to improve health throughout the community. The goal is to help community residents to improve their health by 20 percent by 2020.

A range of topics were discussed including pain pill addiction, which was addressed by Dr. Choo. Joining Choo on the panel were former Senator Bill Frist who served as the keynote speaker, Dr. Martha Buchanan – Director of the Knox County Health Department, Karen Pershing – Executive Director of the Metro Drug Coalition, Dr. Michael Warren – Deputy Commissioner of Population Health for the Tennessee Department of Health, Jeffery Eastman – CEO of Remote Area Medical, Christopher Martin – President of the Knoxville Leadership Foundation, and Phyllis Nichols – President and CEO of the Knoxville Area Urban League.
