Darren McCoy FNP-BC, CPE has practiced as a nurse since 1997, and has served as a nurse practitioner at PCET since 2000. He is board-certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. He completed the Certified Pain Educator credentialing process through the American Society of Pain Educators (ASPE) in 2012.

He has served as an adjunct member and preceptor for the UT College of Nursing, as a presenter at continuing education events at a state, regional, and national level, and has authored or coauthored articles in multiple publications on topics involving risk assessment, opioid tapering, urine drug test interpretation, and documentation issues. He was a founding member of the Board of Directors of the Tennessee Pain Society, of which he served as Treasurer from 2012-2015.
