Martha Jane Smith, MD
Martha Jane Smith, MD was born and raised in Crossville, TN. She graduated from Tennessee Technological University in Cookeville, TN with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry in 1998. She went on to earn her Medical Doctor degree from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis in 2002. She completed a four year residency in Anesthesiology from Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, IL in 2006. Following completion of her medical training she desired to return closer to home, and began her career as an assistant professor of Anesthesiology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. After practicing clinical anesthesia for five years at a level 1 trauma center, she desired to further expand her clinical skills and practice and completed an ACGME approved clinical fellowship position in Interventional and Chronic Pain Management at Vanderbilt University in 2012. She is double board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology in both Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine. Prior to joining PCET, she continued an active practice at Vanderbilt as an Assistant Professor in the Pain Division, as well as performing clinical anesthesia services for the Ambulatory Division for the Department of Anesthesiology.
Dr. Smith is married with two active children. After a decade of academic medical practice, teaching, and “big city” lifestyle, she embraced the opportunity to move closer to her home and join the PCET family.
In 2019, Dr. Smith was voted a “Top Doc” for Pain Management by local area physicians. The honor is published in Cityview Magazine.
