Patient Progress Report: Charles Layne

Charles Layne served our nation during the Vietnam War as an Army Combat Engineer. This service required him to become a paratrooper. A few rough landings, decades of additional wear ...and tear, and a fall at home had done their toll. After surgery to address his back pain as a result of the fall, Charles posture changed. Accompanied by degenerative arthritis, these complications left Charles unable to walk and dependent on opioid medication for management of his pain.

In early 2024, Charles' son was set to be inaugurated into the Future Stars of Wrestling (FSW) Hall of Fame in Las Vegas, NV. At that time, Charles thought it would be impossible to attend such an important event due to his physical condition. After meeting with James Choo, MD, Charles decided to try a minimally invasive surgical procedure called an SI Joint Fusion, that stabilizes the sacroiliac joint. Charles reported a 95 percent decrease in his pain, attended his son's induction ceremony, and is living his best life now.
